Peace Begins With A Smile
Drep Center is an organization dedicated to countering conflict so as to foster peaceful coexistence among diverse religions, political and ethnic backgrounds. With deep passion and commitment to respond to the incessant cycles of violence by bridging divides and nurture lasting peace in affected communities.
Our mission is to build a safe space that promotes trust, social cohesion, resilience and collaboration by empowering individuals at the grassroots to become catalyst of positive change and peace builders in their communities.
We pursue our vision for developing friendship and enhancing respect for human dignity through continuous dialogue, capacity building trainings, peace education, mentorship and collaborative initiative that strengthens relationships for sustainable peace.
The Centre was founded in 2011 by His grace, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama as a result of the tense and often escalating violence in Plateau State which posed a serious security challenge to it, neighbouring State and the country at large since Jos is highly cosmopolitan and primarily represents a miniature Nigeria endowed with attractive climate and several ethnic and religious groups.
DREP Centre brings together youths, women, leaders and other grassroots members of various religious, political and ethnic groups for the purpose of experiencing and learning together the art of dialogue, reconciliation and peace building. We provide an opportunity for sharing of experiences to promote trust and reconciliation, which will in turn equip the participants for peace building in their own communities.
At our core, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of peace, empowerment, and inclusivity. Our work is centered around six key pillars:
Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation, Women and Youth Empowerment, Research and Documentation, Education for Peace, Consulting Services
DREP Centre has an equipped and furnished Dialogue and Mediation Hall, Classrooms and training rooms that are available for use to groups and persons for the purpose of training, workshops, and seminars on peacebuilding and other related activities.
